Our Sensory Room

The Sensory Room is a place where children with special needs are free to explore and develop their senses and skills, or simply relax and unwind for a while. Our specially designed room has many different features including a soft play area, dramatic lighting, bubbles and sometimes fragrancing.

A Sensory room can engage children who can learn through play. From following bright lights, shapes and patterns with their eyes to pressing buttons that make the sensory room change colour, the multi-sensory experience teaches children to become interested in their environment. What is the concept of a Sensory Room?

The concept of our multi-sensory room is quite simple; place a child with special needs in a serene environment, free from the distractions of the outside world and stimulate their senses with moving colours and shapes. For a lot of children the room is the most pleasant environment they have ever experienced, and many will just lay and enjoy it. The effects the room has can be quite dramatic - it room really does work, and has proved time and again to be a fantastic aid in helping the children we care for to become much calmer and relaxed individuals.
